Hippocrates said: The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well.

Mind/Body skills are a powerful combination of healing therapies to help people deal with life changes, stress and illness in a very safe and supportive group setting.

These tools help people transform the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual dimensions of their lives. Mind/Body skills are the single most important and best researched way to deal with the stress that contributes to chronic illness.

The group meets once per week for eight weeks. Each meeting is two hours, during which time the group learns and uses different breathing techniques, meditation, guided imagery, self hypnosis/biofeedback, movement, dancing, writing and drawing.

Mind/Body skills groups have proven beneficial for people dealing with life changes such as increased stress, menopause, divorce, separation, grief and loss. They have also proven beneficial for people with chronic illness, such as cancer, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, fertility issues, arthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia and post-traumatic stress.

Group participants have experienced a decrease in depression and anxiety, better coping skills and tools for managing stress, fewer physical symptoms of illness, such as less pain, less fatigue and more energy. Participants have also experienced greater self-awareness about their own lives, empowering them to make good choices for improved health and wellbeing.

These eight week classes are taught at Cascade Surgical Oncology on a continuing basis.
