Many of our patients benefit from massage therapy during cancer treatment. Demonstrating the effectiveness of massage during cancer treatment is a study done at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and published in April 2007. This study showed a nearly 50% reduction in the severity of chemotherapy related side effects. This was evidenced when massage was utilized immediately prior to treatment.
At Cascade Surgical Oncology we have a dedicated massage/meditation room for our patients to benefit from just this kind of holistic support. Currently we do not bill insurance, however massage is offered at a very low out-of-pocket expense for the convenience and benefit to our patients.
